Emily Johnson

Emily Johnson graduated from Purdue University Fort Wayne majoring in Elementary Education with a concentration in both Early and Middle Childhood Development. After working ten years, in many different capacities within the education setting, she continued her education by attending Florida Gulf Coast University receiving her Master of Education in Special Education. Emily has training in Orton Gillingham and will be working towards her Associate Level Certification this Fall.

Emily began her career by creating a program for adults and children with unique needs to participate in exercise therapy. She worked with Occupational and Physical therapists of her students to continue their therapies through exercise and play therapy. After graduating with her bachelor’s degree, Emily began working in the public-school setting at the Elementary level in Indiana. After her son was born at 23 weeks’ gestation, Emily stayed home with him to bring therapies to her home to assist him and his development. Emily learned how to do developmental therapy and began working with students virtually. Along with this, Emily worked with students overseas, specifically teaching English as a Second Language. Emily and her husband also created a nonprofit organization called Miracles Around Us that provided assistance to families who had children who were hospitalized or who had passed away. When her children became school age, Emily began BTC Academy here in Southwest Florida. This was a hybrid learning center working with students who were homeschooled and providing academic courses for them, along with intervention for children who needed additional support to close academic gaps. When the pandemic hit, Emily began working virtually with students providing intense intervention one on one through BTC Academy. Along with this, she contracted with public and private school districts around the United States, through BTC Academy, providing intense intervention to their students to close academic gaps and provide highly personalized and tailored academic programs for their students, along with creating curriculum for their virtual programs. Emily has worked with children with all different academic abilities from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Emily focuses on creating academic plans specific to her student’s academic and emotional needs, while providing a fun and exciting learning environment that allows children to flourish in all areas of their lives!

"STEM encourages students to think outside the box and realize that there are many multiple solutions to any problem. I encourage all students to go above and beyond what they feel they can achieve to face any challenge that comes before  them."
